The abandoned monastery of Virgin Mary "Kyra Psili" is located in a cave on the mountain, to the north of Vathi. According to a popular legend, the monastery was built by a Kalymnian who had migrated and changed, but when he returned to the island, he remembered his roots and believed again in God.
The inhabitants of the island turned the cave into a church and transported the image to Vathy. Every year on the 15th of August, they return it to the chapel where an overnight celebration takes place. On the day of the 15th of August, a large traditional feast is being held in Vathi, at the church of Virgin Mary "Kyra Psili".
